About the Certificates Program


The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Certificates program is offered with the ultimate goals of

(a) supporting instructors as they integrate technologies in their courses to improve instruction and
(b) providing students with highly engaging learning experiences as well as flexible scheduling.

The objectives of this program are to:

  • Improve and increase opportunities for faculty professional development and ongoing support for effective teaching in online courses.
  • Support TAMU-CC’s strategic plan by ensuring the quality of online courses, along with increasing our potential for continuity of learning in the event of evacuation.
  • Ensure that TAMU-CC meets HECB and SACS standards for distance education by providing faculty support services related to distance education and appropriate training for faculty who teach in online programs.

Awards Eligibility

Certificate of Professional Development in Best Practices for Online Course Design:

Take 26 workshops on teaching in Blackboard, online pedagogy, and online course development.

All workshop materials, tutorials, and guides can be found in Blackboard in the iTeach_Online course under the Online Certificates link.

If you do not see iTeach_Online in the list of your courses in Blackboard, please follow instructions in Self-Enroll in iTeach_Online Blackboard course.

Certificate of Course Design and Development:

Develop a 3-credit hour course in Blackboard designated as I, B, E, or C.

  • The course must have the appropriate registrar’s designation and course schedule.

Courses designated in SAIL as

I - fully online (85-100% online)
- blended (50-84% online)
- eline, CONHS
- web-enhanced (25-49% online)

are eligible for one time:

ELITE Award (Graduate level full-time faculty) 
SOAR Award (STEM undergraduate faculty in the College of Science and Engineering)

Courses designated in SAIL as I or B are eligible for additional one time APDReL award

Apply for APDReL Award

Certificate of Course Delivery and Peer-Review

Participate in online course peer-review while teaching your course.  

You review a peer’s course while he or she teaches it; a peer reviews your course while you teach it. You mentor each other in your course design and delivery.
